Sail Numbers

As a member of US Windsurfing, you get a sail number assigned to you.  Your number can have a “USA” prefix or a two letter state prefix (like “CA”, “TX” or “NY”).

In the past, “USA” and “US” prefixes were considered different numbers – so there could be a USA 7 and a US 7 that could be assigned to different people.  This is being phased out as “USA” is the official World Sailing sail number prefix that is required in international competition……and it’s just too confusing to have both!

When you join US Windsurfing, you can request any number that is not already assigned to someone else.  The below list gets updated regularly, but may not be up to the minute accurate.  You can send an e-mail to info@uswindsurfing.org with any questions or sail number requests.

*Having your name on, or not on, the above list does not mean that your membership is paid up or expired – just that we have a sail number in the database for you.  We give a grace period after your membership expires before we give your number away to someone else.  If you see something that you think is incorrect – please let us know at info@uswindsurfing.org so that we can make sure our records are up to date and correct.
