WaterSpotr is an app of the US Windsurfing Association (US WINDSURFING). It’s designed to help windsurfers and other watersports enthusiasts locate launch sites in their vicinity and connect with others. It’s simply more fun when you’re not alone!

iOS: iTunes App Store
Android: Google Play Store

This app is the result of a massive group effort! It relies on information from many contributors who have tirelessly roamed the land – and water! – to take stock of all the beautiful spots in their respective regions, snap pictures and write up details (access, preferred wind directions, hazards, etc.) for everyone’s enjoyment. The WaterSpotr app covers 600+ spots around the country, and we’re adding to it regularly. Being a mobile app, much of the information is in summary format, so if you’d like to dive deeper into the specifics of any one launch, we invite you to check the following websites directly:

Adirondack Boardsailing Club (CT, RI, MA, VT)
Atlanta Boardsailing Club (AL, GA)
Columbia Gorge Windsurfing Association (OR)
Jim’s Wind Map (SC, GA)
Northwest Windtalk (WA)
Shell Point Sailboard Club (FL)
Tampa Bay Area Windsurfing (FL)
Toledo – Ohio Area (OH, MI)
Whitecap Windsurfing (SC)
Wind Power Windsurfing (WI)
Windsurf Illinois (IL, IN, MI, WI)
Windsurf Quest (TX, OK, LA)
Windsurf Resource (NY, NJ, MD, DE)
Windvisions (VA, NC)

Thank you to US Windsurfing’s regional directors for helping coordinate the data gathering effort – don’t hesitate to reach out to your regional director if you have any question about a spot or scheduled activities in your area.  A big thank you also to Jonathan Herr and Jean Rathle for the outstanding cover shot!

The app should be straightforward to navigate, but here’s a cool tutorial nonetheless (thank you Charlotte Samson!):

How does a user add a spot?

    • JeromeS says:

Hi Josh! Just use the same ‘Leave a reply’ form you just used to ask your question, and send us the GPS coordinates and a short description for each spot you want to add. Looking forward to your input!

Great work! Will Waterspotr have a regular web page release, so I can link to urls for sites? Thanks!

    • JeromeS says:

Hi Eric! We wanted to focus on iOS and Android first (97% of the smartphone market in the US), but an HTML5 version is in the works!

  5. Kona Man says:

Hi Jerome, how are you? Could you make the site icons change color when someone checks in, maybe with a timer so it changes back? Or a number overlay to show how many there? Would be nice to scan the map and know where people are.

I buy Cialis online from https://cialnow.com/ drugstore and now I prefer this medicine because there were no problems after the reception. I had slightly more side effects than I had expected after Viagra and it really bothered me.
