Competitors Registration & Eligibility

Only USW Members whose membership is up-to-date at time of registration for the event will be able to compete in the NRT Classes at NRT events.

2013 Classes

Formula Windsurfing (FW)
Hybrid (H)
Kona (K)
Techno 293 (T293)Formula Experience (FE)
Open Unlimited (O)

Please see the Classes page for more information. In classes that are split into separate A-fleet and Sport fleets, only those competing in the A-fleet receive as Ranking Points. For example, if there is choice such as Prodigy and Prodigy Sport and those classes are racing separately with different starts and/or courses then only the A–fleet Prodigy races qualify for NRT Ranking Points. However, if they were racing together using the same start and course and Prodigy Sport was only a division of Prodigy then all current USW members racing in the Prodigy Class, regardless of division would receive Ranking Points.

NRT Scoring Method

To receive a score for and event competitors must receive at least one finishing results. Just being listed on the scoresheet with no finishing result will not earn that competitor any ranking points.

For each NRT event, the finishing position within the class, regardless of place within any division, will be calculated by the NRT scorer. Racers will receive NRT points equal to the number of competitors in their class, minus their finish place within their class. In addition, they receive 10 bonus points for participation. A racer that finishes 5th in class that had 30 competitors (each with at least one finish score), would receive 30-5+10=35 points.

Only the best 5 scores for each class will count toward that classes’ ranking In the case of ties, the competitor with the most 1st place finishes, or if that does not break the tie then most 2nd place finishes, and so on, will be the winner. This scoring method rewards competitors that attend many events.

Each event result in a USW NRT class will be counted toward one NRT class score. For example, if a racer competes in the Prodigy class at one event and in Formula Windsurfing class at another event, he/she will have a ranking score in both Prodigy and Formula classes but those results are not combined in any way.
